Reduction of bruising from Juvéderm and Radiesse

The potential for bruising after a dermal filler treatment is more likely in some people than in others. Here are some of the things you can do to minimize bruising.

Juvederm

BEFORE TREATMENT

Avoid aspirin, NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen; St. John’s Wort; Vitamin E and Multivitamins which often contain Vitamin E; Fish Oils; Flaxseed Oils; Omega-3; Gingko; Ginseng; Garlic and Glucosamine.

DAY OF TREATMENT

Arnica products are used in the office to reduce bruising. For convenience, we offer our patients the option to purchase topical Arnica which is great to use after your treatment and can decrease the severity and longevity of the bruising.

Also, cold packs (5 minutes on, 5 minutes off) for the first 6 hours will reduce swelling and bruising.

AFTER TREATMENT

For two days after your dermal filler treatment, avoid aspirin, NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen; St. John’s Wort; Vitamin E and Multivitamins which often contain Vitamin E; Fish Oils; Flaxseed Oils; Omega-3; Gingko; Ginseng; Garlic and Glucosamine.

DO NOT MASSAGE THE AREA. Foundation makeup is okay and may be patted on.

Apply an Arnica product to the area 3 times a day until the bruising and/or swelling has decreased.

Bruising may be covered with makeup. A good complete coverage makeup product is Dermablend Cover Cream (available at Ulta.com). Plan accordingly.
