Spring is upon us and many of our patients are searching for new ways to improve their skin quality. Here at Tacoma Laser Clinic, we specialize in providing services to our clients such as skin rejuvenation treatments to do just that!

Skin rejuvenation treatments are the ideal choice for patients seeking to reduce the effects of aging by restoring your skin’s youthful elasticity and brightness. Skin rejuvenation can also be used for therapeutic purposes to treat skin conditions such as rosacea, irregular pigmentation, broken capillaries, spider veins, freckles, or brown spots. For cosmetic enhancements, skin rejuvenation can reduce the signs of aging on the face, arms, and hands through a variety of treatment options.

Skin rejuvenation treatments include:

  • Intense pulse light: This treatment pulses light rays on the affected areas to remove discoloration and tighten sagging skin.
  • Chemical peels: Chemical peels are a non-surgical, outpatient procedure that causes your skin to exfoliate at an expedited rate to remove the outermost layers of your skin to reveal new, rejuvenated skin.
  • Dermabrasion: Refers to the surgical scraping of your skin to soften skin surface irregularities to reveal healthier, brighter complexion.

We want you feeling confident in your skin which is why we utilize only the safest, most effective skin rejuvenation treatments for our patients. One of the skin rejuvenation options we want to highlight this month is intense pulse light, also known as an IPL photofacial

What is IPL?

Intense pulse light (IPL) uses light to diminish the appearance of broken blood vessels, age spots, redness caused by rosacea, varicose veins, and pigmentation caused by sun damage. It can also be used to diminish the appearance of other features such as unwanted freckles, birthmarks, and hair.

The IPL treatment specifically targets problem areas while leaving healthy skin alone. The special light penetrates down to the second layer of your skin without harming the top layer, causing less damage than other treatment methods. While this treatment can be done on any part of the body, it is most effective on smooth surfaces rather than uneven areas. The special light used allows for most patients to only require one session to reach their goals. With no downtime, you’ll be back to all normal activities immediately! Better yet, it is one of the most effective skin pigmentation treatments available today.

Following treatment you will want to avoid direct sunlight, tanning beds, chemical peels, waxing, collagen injections, products that contain vitamin A, and drugs that increase your risk for bleeding such as ibuprofen or aspirin.

The IPL procedure should only be performed under the supervision of one of our board-certified dermatologists, ensuring efficacy and safety. IPL treatment is not recommended for all skin types, so it is important to schedule a consultation beforehand to see if this is the best treatment option for you.
